Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing. Webaptive offers many tools to help you optimize your website to maximize search engine ranking and traffic.

Friendly URL

Search engine-friendly URLs are URLs that are easy to read and understand, e.g., /solutions/content_management.aspx instead of /basictemp.aspx?scmsdocid=31113&scmsdock=5f76. The first URL is easy to read for both search engines and users.

Webaptive lets you create a friendly URL while registering a web page or creating a posting based on a template. You can create any virtual path you wish as long as the path is within the CMS-enabled application (e.g., the friendly URL can be content_management.aspx or /solutions/content_management.aspx).

You can also create custom friendly URLs on the fly by clicking on Main Console > Campaign Management > Friendly URL.

Meta Tags

Meta tags for a page can be edited by clicking on the Pick Element button while the page is checked out. Click on the meta keywork or meta description button to add or edit meta tags for that posting. Meta tags are inherited just like any other content and can be localized.

Tip: To edit meta tags make sure that the aspx page has those tags in the header section with a runat set to server; there is no need to specifically CMS enable a meta tag (or title tag) to allow it to be edited.
